The primary requirement for admission into the Scholars Program is that a student demonstrates an economic need for the Foundation’s services. Other selection criteria include, but is not limited to, the following: prior academic performance, additional biographical information regarding an applicant’s academic and other relevant experiences, and conclusions that the Board and the Scholarship Panel may draw as to the applicant’s motivation, character, ability, or potential. Criteria may also include the applicant’s place of residence, past or future attendance at a particular school, past or proposed course of study or evidence of his or her artistic, scientific, or other special talent. The criteria for demonstrating economic need will be based on the income guidelines established by applicable federal and state regulatory authorities (including those established by the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and applicable healthcare and welfare programs).

In addition to filling out the application, all applicants must provide documentation about household income (which may include copies of paychecks, tax returns, evidence of participation in a subsidized health or welfare program, or other information as requested by the Board).
